| Fillmore Baptist Church is a gathering of people who believe in and follow Jesus because of the "Sovereign Grace" of God. |
|
We are an assembly of individuals who have been saved from sin and death by God's grace through faith in our Lord Jesus Christ.
Colossians 1:13-14: He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. Ephesians 2:8-9: For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. We acknowledge the Lordship of Jesus and confess that He is the only Way to God and, therefore, the only Way of salvation. John 14:6: Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." |
| We desire to know Him. |
|
Philippians 3:8-10:
Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord [...] that I may know him [...]
|
| We desire to worship Him. |
|
John 4:23-24:
But the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will
worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such
people to worship him. God is spirit, and those who worship him must
worship in spirit and truth.
|
| We desire to glorify Him. |
|
Psalm 96:7:
Ascribe to the Lord, O families of the peoples,
ascribe to the Lord glory and strength!
1 Corinthians 10:31: So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God. |
| We desire to be like Him. |
|
Romans 8:29:
For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the
image of his Son, in order that he might be the firstborn among many brothers.
|
| We desire to be with Him. |
|
John 14:3:
And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and
will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also.
Philippians 1:23: I am hard pressed between the two. My desire is to depart and be with Christ, for that is far better. |
| We desire to make Him known. |
|
We want others to come to Christ in faith and know the peace with God
that only comes through trusting Christ. We believe this is accomplished
through the proclamation of the Gospel, the "Good News" that Jesus came
and died, and in so doing, made atonement for the sins of His People.
Ephesians 1:7: In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace, 1 Timothy 1:15: The saying is trustworthy and deserving of full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners [...] Hebrews 1:3: He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power. After making purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high [...] Hebrews 9:28a: [...] so Christ [was] offered once to bear the sins of many [...] Hebrews 10:12-14: But when Christ had offered for all time a single sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God, waiting from that time until his enemies should be made a footstool for his feet. For by a single offering he has perfected for all time those who are being sanctified. |
